Day 1 Leg 2, Weischering- Vohburg 30 km

After a 7 month break from our trip across Europe on our e bikes, today we continued east along the Danube.

Our good friend Manfred had kindly looked after our bikes through the winter, and then looked after us for 2 nights whilst we prepared ourselves for the forthcoming ride.

Manfred brought us back to the restaurant that we left last September .

Ready to set off

Fortunately the weather was superb and we had a very gentle 30 km ride to Vohburg in order to get our bums accustomed to the saddle once more!

Time for a snooze by the river
Vohburg centre for a prossecco and beer

Good Morning Rob & Sue! I am glad you had a good ride. The weather looks nice at least until Thursday or Friday. I would just like to point out that I possess more than one shirt and more than one baseball cap as the shirt and cap I wore yesterday were by chance the same as the ones I wore when I picked you up in Weichering last year. At least I wore a different pair of jeans or questions would have possibly been asked. 🙂

Take your time visiting Regensburg. It is the old Imperial Capital where the Emperor met with the Reichstag for hundreds of years, a very quaint and old city dating back to the Romans (Castra Regina – The Castle of the Queen). Don’t forget to cycle across the old Stone Bridge which is about 850 years old. Right next to the bridge is a museum and the famous Bratwurst place. Regensburg is a very young city as far as the median age of the population is concerned due to the large number of students, which results in many views pleasing to the eye.

Looking forward to seeing you in Straubing!

    Best Regards – Manfred

I hadn’t noticed your hat was the same, so don’t worry!!
We’re looking forward to looking around Regensburg tomorrow, but are only aiming for Bad Abbach today as I don’t want to exhaust the old girl too early in the trip!!

That is a good plan. It leaves you more time to see Regensburg.

Do you have any idea when you will be in Straubing so that I can plan for it?

        Best Regards – Manfred
